President’s Message
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. Our executive team has been working hard to prepare for the new school year. We look forward to reconnecting with our friends and creating new friendships with our new families.
We are excited to launch our new and improved website. I would like to thank Sue McLarty, Robyn Derdall of 29 Web Design, and the rest of the team for their excellent work creating the new website and working on this project throughout the summer.
We have several exciting events coming up which we hope you will take part in:

NOTE: If your child is enrolled in GATE as of September 2018, you are a member of the GATE Parent Association (GPA). You are eligible to vote at business meetings and can be elected to our executive and board at our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Casino Fundraiser
Our next Casino is coming up fast! This is where we raise the most funds, and these funds go directly to schools to be used to enhance the GATE classroom experience. We can’t do it without your help! Signup to help here or email us.
Purdys Fundraiser
The GPA and Louis Riel School Council Purdys fundraiser has been a great success two years running. We’re doing it again this year. Stay tuned for more details. If you’d like to volunteer to help with the fundraiser, please email us.

Watch for announcements about upcoming parent information sessions in the fall. Have a suggestion for an information session? Let us know!
New Referral Process for CBE students
Application dates remain the same (February of the application year), however there are new requirements with respect to psycho-educational assessments and IPPs (Individual Program Plans). If you feel your child should be considered for GATE placement, talk to your school principal. Dates and other information regarding GATE referral can be found on the CBE website, here and here.

Support GATE by buying books! This ongoing fundraiser allows members to support the GPA, the GATE program, their students, and our GATE teachers. Shop for things you buy anyway, and earn funds to help enhance the GATE program.
