As we come to the end of another school year, and the most challenging one yet, we would like to thank our GATE teachers and school administrators for their hard work and resilience in meeting our students’ diverse needs.
Thanks also to you, our GATE parents, for your engagement this year and for your moral and financial support. Your efforts through our casino and other fundraisers have allowed us to support GATE teachers, provide parent education sessions on resilience and managing anxiety, and fund classroom supports.
Lastly, I want to personally thank the GPA team for their continued dedication under these less than ideal circumstances. Traci, Brandi, Jeroen, Stefanie, Amber, Hiral, Irina, Tina, and Janice, thank-you!
We wish you sunshine and joy this summer, and look forward to seeing you all this fall.

GPA Updates
Thank-you to everyone who came out to our General Meeting this month. As we mentioned, this is an election year for the GPA. Our Annual General meeting will be held in September, where we will elect a new executive team, and welcome new board member volunteers. We need your help. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering with us please let us know! See our ROLES page for more information. It is possible to share a role if you would like to volunteer with a friend.
NOTE that we are especially keen to enlist some parents from the north. Our GPA team is often mostly or entirely comprised of parents from the south, and it would be nice to have more representation from our north schools.
We also hosted a presentation prior to our general meeting. If you missed it, you can find the presentation slides on our website.
Fundraising News
We currently have one ongoing fundraiser, which is our Indigo Fundraiser. This fundraiser allows members to support GATE students, and our GATE teachers. Shop for things you buy anyway, send non-contact electronic GIFT CARDS, and earn funds to help enhance the GATE program.
15% of the purchase price of a gift card goes to support the work that we do, including funding for teacher professional development and public information seminars and events. And when you use our link to purchase goods from Indigo online, the GPA earns an additional 3%! Visit our fundraising link to shop.
Gift cards make great teacher gifts and may be used at all Chapters, Indigo, and Coles stores, and online.

CES will continue to offer recorded presentations over the summer months but will be pausing live webinars until the end of August 2021. If there are any specific topics you would like to see, please send suggestions to ces@ahs.ca. You can find recorded sessions here.
